Tips for Making Your Dorm Feel More at Home + My Favorite Target Dollar Items

For those of you who know me well, you know that Christmas is by far my favorite time of the year. Lucky for me, I was blessed with a roommate that loves it as much as I do! As soon as it was even the slightest bit chilly, we started planning out how we wanted to decorate our little dorm room. Target has the absolute best Christmas decorating sections and we may have gotten a little excited! As we were decorating I realized it was the little things that really make our tiny room feel like my home away from home.

I also might have gone a little overboard in the Target dollar section, and... they were just so pretty I had to share! If you're looking for a little "pick-me-up" as we head into the end of the semester exams, I suggest picking up some pretty pens and other goodies to keep you going. Head on over to your local Target to grab your own picks.

Also, keep reading for my 6 favorite ways to make your dorm feel more homie:

6 ways to make your dorm feel more like home:

1. Lots of fairy lights!
One of my all time favorite ways to make our dorm room feel cozy is by hanging lots of lights up all year round. My favorite time of the day is when I finally come back from class and can sit & do homework with all of the pretty lights on.

2. Bring mugs & dishes from home.
I absolutely love bringing mugs back to college with me from home. Sipping hot cocoa out of a glass mug or eating cereal from a bowl from home is just a little thing that can make a stressful day a little better.

3. Hang up pictures!
Whenever I get back to college after a break, I always put up pictures of my friends and family all over my room. There is just something about being surrounded by loved ones that is super comforting and can make home no matter where it is seem not so far away.

4. Decorate for the season.
It doesn't have to be Christmas time (though thats my favorite) to decorate for whatever season you're in. My roommate and I like to decorate our door with pictures and then change the sign & doormat to match the season we are in.

5. Bring your favorite blankets & pillows back to school.
I am such a blanket hoarder its not even funny, but my favorite ones are not necessarily the softest or the prettiest, but rather the ones that remind me of home. So next time you're home, grab the one that is usually on the lazy boy and smuggle it back to college. You won't regret it.

6. Plants, Plants, Plants!
Last but not least... succulents! Not only are they pretty, but they can make any room feel less like such a small space. If you can succulents at a local green house or Lowes, Home Depot, etc.

I hope these tips were helpful for you! Let me know in the comments below if I left anything out!
