My go-to look for Fall

Shop the look:

Happy Monday, y'all! This past weekend I got to go home to Michigan and I couldn't stop smiling if you can't tell from these pics! I was so happy to see my family and I couldn't get over how gorgeous the colors were! My dad took the first few pics and I love them because literally no one makes me laugh/smile as hard as he does and I feel like they really encompass how giddy I was all weekend. I LOVE Michigan in the fall and I don't think i'll ever stop being amazed at how gorgeous God paints the trees every autumn. The weather got chilly in Kentucky this weekend too so I finally feel like we're officially in the fall season!

That being said, I thought I would share this look that I wore a few days ago because I know these pieces will be on repeat all fall and into winter. I don't normally do this, but I also included some iPhone pics because I really wanted to share this look and it's hard to see in the first few pics. I bought this bodysuit from Shein because I have a spaghetti strap black bodysuit and I wore it a million times this summer. Some people really don't like bodysuits because they can be a struggle, but I actually love them because I hate trying to keep my shirts tucked in and I think they look so chic. This one is only like $12?? and is super good quality! These jeans are also a new favorite! I love how girlfriend jeans look with booties & these ones are really affordable if you're wanting to try the trend. My Gucci belt is a dupe if you didn't see it this summer so I linked the dupe above and the real deal in the widget below. My scarf was part of the NSale, but I will link a similar one in the widget as well!

I hope you all have a great week! I am in the process of working on my fall bucket list post so be on the lookout for that!

If you didn't notice in the pics above... I got bangs!!
I have been wanting to make this change for a long time, pinning ideas on Pinterest, getting inspo from some of my favorite influencers and straight up working up the courage. I had the weirdest experience when I went to actually get them cut though! I don't love to be negative on my blog so I'm going to keep this short, but I did not have the greatest experience with the stylist I chose. When I went to get it cut last Friday, the hairstylist straight up did not want to give me straight across bangs. He wanted to go with a swoop or more layers and ended up just trimming my ends. I was not thrilled when he was done so he promised that if I wanted to come back he would cut them for free. I got in the car and literally bawled! Lol I can laugh about it now, but at the time I was so frustrated because I was 110% sure I wanted straight across bangs. So naturally... I went to the mall, shopped it out and called the next morning to go in and get them cut. I say all of that because I want to encourage you to stick to your guns when you're ready to make a change (especially when it's YOUR hair!). I LOVE how my bangs turned out so the experience was definitely worth it, but next time I know I won't be as timid to stand my ground.

About this look... I shared this jumpsuit on my blog this summer (read the post) and love it even more styled for fall! It's still in the 80's this week in Kentucky so this shoot was a little warm, but I'm going home to Michigan this weekend and I can't wait to break out my cozy sweaters!

Also, I wrote this on my instastory earlier this week but I wanted to share it on my blog for those of you that may not have seen it:
"I realize I haven't posted in FOREVER. Long story short, I have been in a huge season of transition. Relationships, moving, school and after college scaries (coming up!).
This summer I was posting every day, but mentally was not in the best place.
The last month has been huge for self care, not comparing myself and growing in my faith.
Thank you all for supporting me & loving me through tough times!
I love all of y'all SO much."

Currently Craving for Fall: Shades of Pink

1. // 2. // 3. // 4. // 5. // 6. // 7. // 8. // 9.

Happy September, y'all!

It is still super hot in Kentucky so we have a few weeks before it really feels like fall, but that doesn't mean i'm not already super excited. So many of you guys loved seeing my "Summer Bucket List" post so I am currently working on putting together my bucket list for this fall. With this being my senior year, I have so many things that I don't want to forget to do incase I'm not in Kentucky next year.

I have been loving bright colors for fall and especially different shades of pink. I still love my burgundy, cognac and forest green shades too but I think there's just something about pink that is so feminine and pretty. Plus, fall is my favorite season so why not wear more of my favorite color? lol

I compiled a little bit of everything (i.e. sporty, comfy, dressy) for this post and at different price ranges so it would be accessible for everybody that's wanting to add a little bit more pink to their wardrobe. I think my favorite piece in this collection is the light pink baker hat. I love this trend and I am really excited that it's back again this year. H&M is currently having a Labor Day sale making the baker cap under $15 too!

I hope you're all having a great weekend! Please let me know if you have any other posts that you would love to see this fall below. :)

Striped Sweater & a Life Update

I'm sitting outside on the porch of our students center on campus thinking about what to write and tempted to just share these pictures, a quick blurb about how much I love this sweater and appreciate how mom jeans are trending right now but for some reason I don't think that's enough.

I started this blog a little over 3 years ago (wooh!) and although I do love to talk about fashion, there was a very specific reason that I included that little word "lifestyle" into the title as well. One of these days when I look back on my blog or when others read these words down the line, I hope they see that there was much much more to me than knowing how to express my individual style.

I had some friends and family members challenge me this summer to bring my blogging back to the center. Sometimes it's hard to hear criticism and advice that you weren't seeking for. I know that in life I tend to make a lot of carefully thought through and wise decisions and choices, but sometimes I loose focus and make bad ones too.

So this is me...
This summer I worked like crazy to create next level content for my blog and social media channels. My goal was to get accepted to a program that would make shopping the outfits that I post much easier and I even had a friend in the industry recommend me to this program. It's been over a month of waiting, I am back in the swing of school and I have yet to hear anything from them. I had hoped that I would be explaining this to you all with a big announcement, a celebratory, confetti popping photo shoot, but... I think God currently has other plans. I'm not saying that I'll never be sharing that post, but I am being vulnerable and honest with where I am today.

Currently, my biggest goal for the semester is self care! If you are needing any motivation to take better care of yourself and gain some motivation, I highly recommend you watch or re-watch this video. My goal is to make my bed every morning (it just makes me feel so much better when I get home after a long day!), have quiet time with the Lord every day, wake up with enough time to get ready without being rushed out the door, sweat for at least 30 minutes each day, keep my personal and educational priorities in check and wash my face every night!

These goals are real life, y'all. They're not wrapped in a pretty bow of 6 easy steps to change your life or an easy formula for success. In fact, my word of the year is discipline. There is nothing that sounds pleasant about that! haha BUT I am so tired of not being the best version of myself that I can be so it's time to disciplined in the way that I live my life and take care of myself.

SO where does this leave the blog?
No worries! I am still goal driven and planning on continuing to produce good content that you guys want to see. I would love to be accepted into RewardStyle, but I am waiting for the Lord's timing (not my own!). I will also continue to take you all on this journey with me as long as you still want to follow! I will be sharing a lot more health and fitness related posts as well as more faith based posts mixed in with beauty, fashion and college tips. My followers (you guys!!) are well rounded, beautiful and inspiring women. I learn so much from all of you on a daily basis as I get to communicate and get to know you. I'm tired of limiting my content to fit a small niche when there is so much more to life, ya know?

As always, I am so incredibly thankful for all of you that come on this journey with me! I know that posts like this can be extremely long winded and not as fun to read as a post about fall fashion trends, but they are extremely important for the integrity of my blog.

I hope you guys have a great rest of your week!!

A Day on Mackinac Island

I am officially back at school in Kentucky and getting use to sitting in class again all day. In my free time i'll be dreaming about being on Mackinac Island again! I thought I would share a few of the pictures today from our trip incase you are feeling the Tuesday blues too!

We stayed on the main land for a couple of nights and went to the island on the second day. On our way over to the island we were talking about the last time we were on the island and trying to remember exactly when it had been. A little bit later, I was looking at my Timehop and realized we were on the island exactly 6 years ago to the day! A shared a little bit about this on my Instagram, but to me that was God's little way of reminding me that He is in control of all things. If you know me then you know that family time is as precious as gold to me. I cherish even eating late night cereal with my parents and all of the "simple" memories because I know how quickly time can pass. God never promised that we would have an infinite time, but He does promise that He will take care of us and to me the time on the island 6 years ago and this summer was His way of fulfilling that.

In other news... I found this dress at TJMaxx before the trip and knew it would be perfect for an up state vacay! Polkadots are a print that I will never outgrow no matter how old I get. I'm also going to assume you're not surprised at seeing this hat on the blog again! lol

I hope you all are having a great start to your week! Thank you for reading!

Stylish School Supplies to Stay Motivated & Organized

I don't know about you guys, but I am 100% more motivated to get back to school and get going after I have picked up some cute new supplies! Maybe it's the teacher in me or maybe it's the semi-perfectionist but I love shopping for school supplies, but I am super picky! I have used the same style planner every year of college because I can't use anything else! I tried investing in a Vera Bradley planner a couple years ago and it was a hot. mess. lol In other news... and a shameless plug! My cousin Katie recently started bullet journaling (and she is amazing!!) so check out her Instagram if you're looking for some creative inspiration.

To help you feel a little more inspired for going back to school (whether its in a couple weeks or a month, high school or college) I thought I would share some pretty and stylish supplies that are sure to help you stay more organized during the school year with some motivation mixed in!

Whenever I share posts like this I am always hesitant because I never want anyone to think I am telling you to buy all of these products. I think that would be silly! I am simply sharing some pretty things that could inspire and bring you a smile if you wanted to invest in one or a couple of them.

Also, a few of these items are by Cath Kidston (a darling brand that I stumbled into when I was in Windsor, UK. I absolutely love everything she designs so I couldn't wait to share some of my favorites! I actually bought a lunch tote, a water bottle and some snack boxes that are a little different than the ones below (but still similar) when I was in London and brought them all the way back to the states because I loved them so much :)

This is the planner that I have used forever and am obsessed with! I love the cute covers they come up with every year and the format
helps me stay so organized.
“Bolts work on nuts; pens work on paper.
But you must work on yourself. Go, get working!”

These are the totes that I was talking about! One way that I help myself stay organized during the school year is by investing a cute lunch tote that I know I will want to pack. That sounds so silly, but it honestly helps me to eat out less and save more money.

There are a million different reasons why drinking water is so good for you! Sometimes I think carrying around a cute water bottle can help you remember to bring it with you throughout the day and fill it up more often!
"There are no secrets to success.
It is the result of preparation, hard work,
and learning from failure"

One of the main things that I am going to be working on this year is journaling more!  I have a really hard time structuring my thoughts when I am stressed so I think getting them down will help me to not only document my senior year (ahh!!) but also be a lot more mentally focused and healthy.

I invested in a Vera Bradley backpack (like 75% of college girls?? haha) my sophomore year and although I saw lots of them on campus, I loved that it was super durable and easy to carry. I saw this one on their website and although I'll be sticking with mine for another year, I think this one is really cute too!
